Illegale Euro 2012 sportschoenen smokkelwaar in beslag genomen
 
Douanebeambten in het noordelijke district van Pomorskie Polen hebben 10.000 paar valse sportschoenen met de Euro 2012-logo op hen in beslag genomen.
 
De trainers, die door een bedrijf uit de zuid-oostelijke stad Rzeszow zijn geïmporteerd, zijn zwart met oranje rubberen zolen en een misvormd Euro 2012-logo.
 
De douaneambtenaren van de havenstad Gdynia namen de schoenen in beslag na vaststelling dat de Chinese producent het kampioenschappen logo illegaal gebruikte.
 
Een advocatenkantoor de UEFA vertegenwoordigende heeft bevestigd dat de in beslag genomen partij schoenen in strijd is met intellectuele eigendomsrechten van de Unie van Europese voetbalbonden.
 
Dit is het eerste geval van het confisceren van illegale goederen met het kampioenschap logo in Polen, zegt Marcin Daczko, perswoordvoerder van de Poolse douane in de haven Gdynia:
 
"De container met deze lading kwam uit China. De geadresseerde was een onderneming in Rzeszow, een stad in zuid-centraal Polen. Het bleek tijdens de inspectie dat de schoenen zijn voorzien van een Oekraïne 2012 teken en een voetbal-logo tegen een oranje kleurige achtergrond,”'zei hij tegen de Poolse radio.

Juridische procedure nu vereist een gerechtelijk eigendom verlies vonnis. Vervolgens zullen de gesmokkelde schoenen ter waarde van naar schatting 110 duizend euro worden vernietigd.

Illegal Euro 2012 contraband sports shoes seized

Customs officers in the northern Pomerania district of Poland have confiscated over 10,000 pairs of counterfeit sports shoes with the Euro 2012 logo on them.

The trainers, imported by a company from the south-east city of Rzeszow, are black with orange rubber soles and a deformed Euro 2012 logo.  

The customs officers from the port city of Gdynia seized the trainers after establishing that the Chinese producer used the championships logo illegally.

A law firm representing UEFA has confirmed that the seized consignment of shoes violates intellectual property rights of the Union of European Football Federations.

This is the first case of confiscating illegal merchandise with the Championship logo in Poland, says Marcin Daczko, press spokesman for the Polish Customs Office in Gdynia port:

“The container with the shipment arrived from China. Its addressee was a company in Rzeszow, a city in south-central Poland. It was found during inspection that the shoes bear a Ukraine 2012 sign and a football logo against an orange color background,” he told Polish Radio.

Legal procedure now requires a court property loss verdict. Subsequently, the contraband footwear valued at an estimated 110 thousand euro will be destroyed.   (ss/pg/mg)
