Euro 2012 op schema, beweert de overheid

Alle belangrijke investeringen die verband houden met het EURO 2012 kampioenschap voetbal in Polen worden uitgevoerd zoals gepland, concludeert de minister van sport Adam Giersz in Warschau.

Giersz - die regering dinsdag actualiseerde met een voortgangsverslag, - zei dat meer dan zeventig procent van de projecten worden gerealiseerd in overeenstemming met het schema.

”De meest problematische nu, is het stadion in Wroclaw, maar we werken aan het effectief oplossen ervan," vertelde hij Radio Polskie. "Het stadsbestuur koos een nieuwe contractant en het stadion moet worden opgeleverd in juni 2011. Ik geloof dat ze zich aan deze termijn zullen houden, en een jaar vóór EURO 2012 alle stadions voor de spelers klaat zullen zijn."

Vorig jaar december werd bekend dat een overeenkomst met een nieuwe uitvoerder voor d bouw van het Wroclaw stadion voor UEFA Euro 2012 was gevonden nadat de lokale overheid in de zuidwestelijke stad Mostostal Warszawa S.A. had ontslagen voor het serieus achter lopen op het schema.

De belangrijkste investeringen die nodig zijn voor het opvoeren van EURO 2012 in Polen zijn in de stadions en luchthavens. De UEFA geeft bijzondere aandacht voor deze voorzieningen, terwijl toezicht  houdend op de vooruitgang in dit land.

De UEFA kondigde af dat Polen het recht had gegeven op co-hosting de EURO 2012 voetbalkampioenschappen met Oekraïne in april 2007.

Euro 2012 on schedule, claims government

All key investments connected with the EURO 2012 football championships in Poland are being implemented as planned, claims sports minister Adam Giersz in Warsaw.

Giersz  - who updated the government with a progress report, Tuesday - said that over seventy percent of projects are being realised in accordance with the schedule.

The most problematic now is the stadium in Wroclaw but we are working on solving it effectively,” he told Polskie Radio. “The city authorities selected a new contractor and the stadium is to be completed by June 2011. I believe they will keep to this deadline and a year before EURO 2012 all the stadia will be ready for the players.”

Last December it was announced that an agreement with a new executor to build the Wroclaw stadium for UEFA Euro 2012 had been found after the local government in the southwestern city dismissed Mostostal Warszawa S.A.for falling seriously behind

The key investments necessary for staging EURO 2012 in Poland are in stadia and airports. UEFA is paying special attention to these facilities while monitoring the progress in this country.

UEFA announced it had granted Poland the right to co-host EURO 2012 Football Championships with Ukraine in April 2007. (di/pg)
